Beaches There is a reason why the gorgeous Four Seasons and the beautiful Villa Paradiso are located on Pinney's Beach. Because the sand is three miles long and it is THE BEACH. Not to take anything away from the other island beaches further north, but they are all small, landlocked beaches. If you want to explore and walk along a beach like Florida then the only one on Nevis is Pinney's. And Sunset Heaven is located in the middle of Pinney's so you can stroll either left or right and not run out of sand for at least a mile. And you'll pass a few restaurants and "refreshment" stands along the way too.
But hold on .... Sunset Heaven prides itself on taking care of this tourist "dilemma." We want you to visit our cottages and taking care of communications is obviously important! Tough enough getting the non-adventurous types to visit Nevis ... having them vacation (albeit in paradise) without all the communications "stuff" is an all-too-often trip destroyer. Well, tell these risk avoiders to relax. We are tech junkies. We've made the right arrangements and are able to offer all Sunset Heaven visitors internet and international cell phone services. Bring your laptop and use our free wireless connectivity. Or we will steer you to the local internet cafe spots where the prices are extremely reasonable Cell phone rates are also quite reasonable, and we can rent you a cell phone for your stay. Buying minutes for the phone is oh so simple. You'll have the same phone capability to call or receive calls as if you were in Anytown, USA. Picture yourself on the beach calling family or friends back home. Yep, can be done. Even on Nevis! Have your own cell phone? Check to see if it has the latest chip technology and services package for international calls. You might be able to use it on the island.
Transportation You can stay at Sunset Heaven and walk to a few restaurants. That is why Sunset Heaven is such a good place to stay -- we are in the middle of the tourist corridor. But to really see the whole island, you'll need some wheels. The local buses are great if you must be frugal, but a nice rental car is the way to go. Yes, you have to drive on the left hand side, and yes you have to give the Nevis government $25 for a license. But heck, the car rates are the same as the states (about $45 per day) and the unlimited freedom is oh so nice. Get the car ... visit the Charlestown grocery stores and do some local take-outs .... and you'll save enough by cooking at Sunset Heaven to offset the rental. Our on-site folks can help you with the car .... let the car (and license) come to you!
Weather We have yet to find a reliable site for forecasting Nevis weather. If you pull up many of the international weather sites, you'll get the standard "partly cloudy with possible rain showers" entry. And then there is the reality -- mostly sunny with maybe, maybe a passing shower. What we do is check out this weather site, then click on "hourly reports." It contains the last five days and the Golden Rock destination actually means the Bradshaw Airport on St Kitts. This gives you a good idea of what to expect, assuming the future forecast is the "partly cloudy with possible rain showers" variety. In other words, what we are saying is that you can expect a whole lot more sun, and a whole lot less rain. Another nice forecast is the Four Seasons weather site, as the Four Seasons is less than a mile from Sunset Heaven
Dining, Activities, and Climate We won't even go here ... let www.nevis1.com be your guide. But we do recommend the rain forest if you are in good shape. And the horse rides from the nearby equestrian center, well that is a memory maker!
